After Abortion

If abortion has affected your life, you might have suffered from chronic guilt, depression, anxiety, flashbacks or anger.  Maybe you’ve had feelings of being isolated, abandoned or condemned.  If so, the Post Abortion Support (PAS) group provides a confidential, loving and non-judgmental environment to help you find emotional and spiritual healing.

You are not alone, Post Abortion Stress affects many women with symptoms that can range from depression and increased risk of cancer to suicide.   Symptoms can begin immediately after the abortion or show themselves over years, even decades.

In one study on how abortion hurts women psychologically and emotionally, just 8 weeks after their abortions, researchers found that:  44 percent complained of nervous disorders; 36 percent had experienced sleep disturbances; 31 percent had regrets about their decision; and 11 percent had been prescribed psychotropic medicine by their family doctor.       Approximately 60 percent of women who experience post-abortion stress report thoughts of suicide.   The suicide rate within one year after an abortion was three times higher than for all women.  Suicide attempts appear to be especially prevalent among post-abortion teenagers. (2)

Call the Crisis Pregnancy Center at (760)568-2200 or email jan@choiceline.org for more information about our Post-Abortion Support Group (PAS group).  It is free and we offer on-going 7 week sessions.

Call the CPC at 760-568-2200 if you are feeling overwhelmed and would just like to talk to speak with a caring Client-Advocate who has a personal experience with abortion.
